Copper & Kings Launches Two New Destillaré Luxury Liqueurs

LOUISVILLE, Ky.— Louisville-based Copper & Kings American Brandy Co. has announced its two latest pure copper pot-distilled luxury cordials: Destillaré Café, an intense coffee liqueur built with a robust cold brew natural coffee foundation; and Destillaré Chocolat, an intense chocolate liqueur using cocoa nibs steeped in brandy process. The cordials join an expanding Destillaré line-up that already includes Orange Curaçao and Pomegranate liqueurs. Both liqueurs use an aged Copper & Kings American Brandy base, have no added artificial colors or flavors, and are non-chill filtered. The liqueurs are at Destillaré’s standard 90 proof and are sweetened with honey. “Destillaré’s mission is to provide bartenders with exceptional tools to build the most delicious, inventive cocktails that they possibly can,” said Copper & Kings founder, Joe Heron. “Bartenders have thirsty imaginations, and we see them as the most inventive alchemists and magicians. Cordials are very exciting for us, not only for the creative palette they provide, but that for a category of such enormous size, there’s not been a lot of new thinking and innovation, and bartenders are looking for tools to expan...

Could Wearing aCould Squeezing Your Arms and Legs Help Prevent Strokes?Blood Pressure Cuff Reduce the Risk of Stroke? Live Science Live Science

A simple squeeze to your arms and legs might benefit your brain — turns out, the added pressure may improve the regulation of blood flow to your brain as well as levels of stroke-protective molecules, a new study suggests. The study found that people who wore an inflated blood pressure cuff on one arm and leg for minutes at a time experienced more controlled blood flow to their brains. This method also increased molecules in the blood previously suggested to play a protective role in the brain, such as in preventing stroke, a group of researchers reported today (May 29) in the journal Neurology. Previous research has suggested that “training” organs by restricting blood flow — and therefore oxygen — to them through periodically compressing the arms and legs may make them more resilient when problems arise. [7 Things That May Raise Your Risk of Stroke] For example, a trained heart may be more resistant to changes in blood flow during a heart attack. And such training may allow the brain to better regulate that organ’s blood flow despite changes in blood pressure, a process called “cerebral autoregulation,” the authors said. “It is generally be...

Stability of Structured Kaposi’s Sarcoma-Associated Herpesvirus ORF57 Protein Is Regulated by Protein Phosphorylation and Homodimerization

Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) ORF57 plays an essential role in KSHV lytic infection by promoting viral gene expression at the posttranscriptional level. Using bioinformatic and biochemical approaches, we determined that ORF57 contains two structurally and functionally distinct domains: a disordered nonstructural N-terminal domain (amino acids [aa] 1 to 152) and a structured α-helix-rich C-terminal domain (aa 153 to 455). The N-terminal domain mediates ORF57 interaction with several RNA-protein complexes essential for ORF57 to function. The N-terminal phosphorylation by cellular casein kinase II (CKII) at S21, T32, and S43, and other cellular kinases at S95 and S97 residues in proximity of the caspase-7 cleavage site, 30-DETD-33, inhibits caspase-7 digestion of ORF57. The structured C-terminal domain mediates homodimerization of ORF57, and the critical region for this function was mapped carefully to α-helices 7 to 9. Introduction of point mutations into α-helix 7 at ORF57 aa 280 to 299, a region highly conserved among ORF57 homologues from other herpesviruses, inhibited ORF57 homodimerization and led to proteasome-mediated degradation of ORF57 protein. ...

Global Industrial Hybrid Stepper Motors Market: Development History, Current Analysis and Estimated Forecast to 2025

A stepper motor or step motor or stepping motor is a brushless DC electric motor that divides a full rotation into a number of equal steps. The motor’s position can then be commanded to move and hold at one of these steps without any position sensor for feedback (an open-loop controller), as long as the motor is carefully sized to the application in respect to torque and speed. Stepper motors are available in three basic types; which are permanent magnet, variable reluctance and hybrid. Hybrid stepper motors combine aspects of both permanent magnet (PM) and variable reluctance (VR) stepper motors. Like PM motors, they contain a permanent magnet in the rotor teeth. Two sets of teeth called cups ring the rotor. One ring is all south poles, and the other ring is all north poles. Japan and China is the largest supplier of industrial hybrid stepper motors, with a production market share nearly 90.70% in 2016. Asia Pacific also is the largest consumption place, with a consumption market share nearly 45.66% in 2016. Following Asia Pacific, North America is the second largest consumption place with the consumption market share of 24.47%. Access Report Details at: https://www.themarketre...

Adi’s Act goes into the books, focusing on preventing youth deaths in Oregon | Malheur Enterprise

Adi’s Act — Senate Bill 52 — requires school districts to plan how to address and prevent suicides among students. The legislation is backed by the family of Adi Staub, a transgender student at Grant High School in Portland who died by suicide in 2017. “I think that it’s just one part of a much larger societal need, which is to make sure that every kid, no matter how they identify or who they love, sees hope for the future,” Lon Staub, Adi’s father, told Oregon Capital Bureau. Suicide is among the leading causes of death in Oregon, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, with 825 Oregonians dying by suicide in 2017. For Oregonians ages 10 to 24, it is the second-leading cause of death. Gay, bisexual and transgender youth are statistically far more likely to attempt suicide than youth as a whole. Staub said it’s important that Adi’s Act directs school officials to specifically address the risk of suicide among “high-risk” student populations, including LGBT youth, youth with disabilities and homeless youth. The youth suicide rate in Oregon has increased dramatically this decade, state data shows. In 2010, about seven in every 100,000 Oreg...

Snake knocks out power outage to thousands of NC homes

On Tuesday in Fayetteville, a snake got into a power substation, according to a post on the city’s public works commission Facebook page. In the Carolinas, trees are the number one cause of power outages, but Duke Energy said snakes and other animals are also a common culprit. Duke Energy sent NBC Charlotte a statement that read, in part, “Snakes are active in the summer so we typically see an increase in outages due to snake-related activity.” Like the temperatures, snake sightings are on the rise. Jensen discovered a 12-foot black snake on his property in Lowell.  A woman sent NBC Charlotte a photo of a black rat snake swallowing a copperhead in Forsyth County. It’s been shared on Facebook more than 18,000 times and has more than 1,400 likes. Two years ago in Morganton, workers found a pair of snakes when they opened up an electric box. The snakes had been electrocuted.  1 Gang 1 Way Switch To prevent that from happening more Duke Energy installed special fencing with a mesh-like material to prevent snakes and other animals from entering some substations. “If the animal actually gets in and causes damage that would damage the equipment we would h...
